Features

  • FACTORY-STYLED BODY: Whether it be for Harley’s touring models, Honda’s Goldwings, or the latest Indian Roadmaster and Challeger -based machines, we at ROADSMITH believe that the best styling for a trike, for any trike for that matter, is one that follows the same lines and fits as seamlessly as possible into the overall design of the motorcycle on which it is based – a.k.a: form following function. The idea isn’t to try and take a motorcycle that took thousands of man-hours and countless millions of dollars to design and radically change it. The ROADSMITH design philosophy has, and always will be, for our conversion kits to stay as true to the OE design as possible. However, this is far easier said than done.
  • TOUR PACK RELOCATION: We at ROADSMITH move the Tour Pack on both the ’18-newer Honda Goldwing GL1800s (HTX1800) and the ’14-newer Indian Roadmaster (ICR) models up-and-back 1.5 inches each way. This not only improves passenger comfort by increasing leg room and making for a much-less cramped seating position, but it also improves the rider’s comforts as well; the result of said rear-ward movement of the passenger as a result of the relocated tour packs on both models.
  • TRUNK DESIGN: ROADSMITH Conversion Kits’ trunks are designed to be easy to access and provide as much usable space as possible. We use a simple set of hinges that do not impede into the storage area like some other manufacturers. We make the doors wide, for easy loading, and the inner compartment flat-bottomed to maximize space. When the door is open it is held in place with a pair of retractable cables that neatly disappear once the door is closed. The interior of most models comes with urethane-backed, padded carpet throughout that is secured in place with Velcro if you’d like to take it out and clean it.
  • FULLY-INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (SHAFT-DRIVE): The smooth ride of the ROADSMITH Shaft-Drive Models (HTX1800, HTS1800, HT1500, HSC1500 and HSCR1500) are primarily due to our innovative, fully-independent rear suspension system that offers a ride like no other trike on the market today!
  • HEAVY-DUTY DRIVE-SHAFT: All ROADSMITH conversion kits for bikes that come with shaft-drive from the factory as standard equipment, which at this point are the five Hondas models that ROADSMITH TRIKES currently produces, come with a heavy-duty 2-inch diameter drive shaft as standard equipment. This allows them to easily take the high-torque demands produced by both the 1500cc and 1800cc six-cylinder powerplants that come stock in the modern Goldwings and Valkyries.
  • ALLOY WHEELS: Our standard rims that come with every ROADSMITH conversion kit are a silver/machined aluminum rim with a clear-coated finish that protects them from corrosion and makes them easy to clean. The rims are a 16×7-inch with a positive offset of 40mm. The bolt pattern is 5×4.5-inch. This is a very popular size in the automotive industry, making them easily and affordably fixed or replaced in the event of any damage or swapped out for a different style if want to change your trike’s looks.
  • DISC BRAKES: With the added weight of a trike you also need added stopping power to slow it down. For this ROADSMITH relies on automotive-grade dual-disc brakes. We use a commonly used VW and Porsche application for easier access to replacement parts. Some other manufactures make their own custom parts, we believe that ‘off-the-shelf’ parts are better for the owner in the long run. For bikes that originally had integrated brakes front and rear we continue to utilize them. And following along the same line, if the bike had ABS as original equipment we will keep that functioning as well.
  • HEAVY-DUTY CV JOINTS: The axles are custom made for ROADSMITH conversion kits, but the constant velocity (CV) joints are standard automotive applications such as VW and Porsche. We use automotive type parts for all of our drive train because it’s designed for a much heavier load, meaning these parts will probably last forever in this light duty application. Again using “off the shelf” parts for your convenience.
