About Us

In 1981, Dave Feathers began his dealership now known as Honda of Ottawa by offering top quality sales and service to Ottawa, OH and the surrounding communities. Honda of Ottawa provided all Putnam county could ask for with the full line of Honda motorcycles, scooters and A.T.V.s.

From the very beginning, Dave has had the love and support of his family and friends to help the dealership operate smoothly for over 31 years. Dave’s oldest daughter Tammy began her career as General Manager with Honda of Ottawa when the dealership opened its doors in 1981 and currently holds the title of Operations Manager. Tammy married Steve “Whitey” Landwehr in June of 1982. Whitey instantly took a liking to motorcycles and before long, Honda of Ottawa had a new mechanic. Whitey is currently working full-time as an electrical instrument technician while remaining a part-time Honda service technician with Honda of Ottawa.

Dave’s only son Laverne “Shorty” helped open Honda of Ottawa as a Honda certified service technician but he eventually left Honda of Ottawa in 1998 to pursue other avenues. Currently, Shorty can be found around Honda of Ottawa lending a hand in the service department when needed.

Honda of Ottawa has had its share of ups and downs over the years. Which proved evident when Mother Nature produced a damaging tornado in the fall of 2001 that left Honda of Ottawa’s only storage facility nearly flattened. This left Honda of Ottawa with minimal space at its current location and no storage. Dave was faced with a tough dilemma that ultimately brought him to the decision to build a new facility for sales and service.

Dave's love for water and boating became obvious after the construction of the new building was complete. When Honda personal watercraft was added in the fall of 2004. Then it became evident almost instantly that Honda of Ottawa needed personal watercraft trailers. Dave chose one of the industry leaders by selecting Shoreland’r.

In the spring of 2005, Honda of Ottawa added Roadsmith trike conversion kits by The Trike Shop to the awesome line-up of products offered. Roadsmith offers the best-built trike conversion available with independent suspension, a smooth look, smooth ride and high performance at an excellent value.

Another expansion of the products at Honda of Ottawa was in December of 2006 with the addition of Tow-Pac InstaTrike. The initial order of 3 Tow-Pacs InstaTrikes was installed on FSC600 Silverwings. Which to date is the second most popular unit used only more frequently on the GL1800 Goldwing.

When Honda introduced something completely new the Big Red. Which is Honda's first Multi-Purpose Utility Vehicle. Honda of Ottawa had the first one available in August of 2008. Big Red is just the ticket if you have some off-road work, hunting or exploring to do and you want to take a friend and some gear along.
